Big Swings for Big Impact:
300 Golfers Tee Off at the 2026 Virginia Housing Charity Golf Tournament
June 3, 2026On May 14, the 33rd Annual Virginia Housing Charity Golf Tournament filled the bays at Topgolf Richmond with more than 300 golfers from the housing arena. Their support transformed a day of friendly competition into a force for good, fueling six standout organizations that are tackling Virginia’s most pressing housing challenges head on.
Across Virginia, there are residents facing the difficulties of poverty and housing stability. Thanks to the commitment of our event partners, this year’s tournament helped advance the mission of organizations working tirelessly to break cycles of hardship and create pathways to long term stability.
Since the Charity Golf Tournament’s founding in 1993, Virginia Housing has raised more than $3 million for Habitat for Humanity affiliates, emergency shelters and other housing service organizations. This year, Virginia Housing is proud to have provided $20,000 grants to each of the following organizations:
Family Crisis Support Services
Family Crisis Support Services provides emergency shelter for individuals and families experiencing domestic violence, sexual assault and homelessness. The organization serves Buchanan, Dickenson, Lee, Russell, Scott and Wise counties, as well as the city of Norton. Family Crisis Support Services is using its awarded funds to strengthen its rapid rehousing program, including costs such as security deposits and first month’s rent for clients moving into new homes.
Hanover and King William Habitat for Humanity
Hanover and King William Habitat for Humanity began in 1990 as a group of Hanover residents wanting to provide safe and affordable housing in the county. Expanding to serve residents of King William County in 2017, this Habitat chapter builds homes alongside families who pay affordable mortgages and offers a repair program that addresses critical structural needs. Hanover and King William Habitat for Humanity is using grant to install a roof, retrofit electric wiring and clean up construction on a recently built home.
Homeward
Homeward is the regional planning and coordinating agency for homeless services in the Greater Richmond area. Homeward works to prevent, reduce and end homelessness by supporting care providers, overseeing data collection and reporting, and facilitating coordination between resource and services across the region. New Directions Center
New Directions Center is a community organization working in the cities of Staunton and Waynesboro, as well as August County to reduce the impact and occurrence of sexual assault, domestic violence, human trafficking and stalking. Services include emergency shelter and rapid rehousing meant to provide safety and stability on the path to self-sufficiency. The grant is being used to help clients purchase items needed to finalize moves into new housing, from furniture and utensils to stocking the pantry.
Seton Youth Services
Seton Youth Services provides shelter, counseling and outreach for runaway, homeless and vulnerable youth in the Hampton Roads region. The organization works to increase housing stability and reduce the number of unaccompanied and homeless youth by addressing the underlying causes of housing crises and supporting permanent, healthy connections to family and community. Seton Youth Services is using the grant to support its core mission of providing 24/7 safe shelter, crisis counseling and outreach to youth in need.
