David Henderson is the Managing Director of Finance and Administration at Virginia Housing, a role he has held since 2010. Henderson oversees the organization’s financial operations, including the Accounting and Procurement departments and payroll administration. He oversees Virginia Housing’s annual audit and budget, supports strong internal controls and provides key financial reporting and project support to the Chief Financial Officer.
Henderson has worked in banking and mortgage lending and servicing since 1999 and brings strengths in financial planning, control development, financial reporting and leveraging technology in cost effective ways. Before joining Virginia Housing, Henderson served as the Accounting Manager for the Mortgage Division at Citizens Bank in Providence, Rhode Island, where he spent 11 years leading the division’s accounting operations. Henderson previously worked in public accounting at Goodman and Company LLP, performing audits, reviews and tax preparation for a diverse client base.
He is a Certified Public Accountant and a member of both the AICPA and the Virginia Society of CPAs. Henderson is an Army veteran and holds a bachelor’s degree from the University of Richmond, as well as an MBA from the College of William & Mary.
Henderson is married and has three sons and one grandson. In his free time, he enjoys going to the gym, attending sporting events and expanding his growing Star Wars LEGO collection.
