How to Access Your FREE Annual Credit Report
Understanding your credit report is key during the homebuying journey. One of the best ways to monitor your credit – and catch any mistakes – is to use your credit report from one or all three of the credit reporting agencies. While many banking and credit card apps offer credit monitoring, credit reports are the number one tool used by creditors to determine creditworthiness.
Under the Fair and Accurate Credit Transaction Act (FACT Act), you can request one free credit report every 12 months from each of the three major credit reporting agencies – Equifax, TransUnion and Experian.
Your report will NOT provide credit scoring but identifies recorded accounts that have reported your status. To make sure you’re on top of the information, you should review your credit histories at least once a year to ensure your information is correct.
There are three ways to request your report:
- Visit AnnualCreditReport.com to download your report instantly.
- Call 877-322-8228 and verify your identity. You’ll then receive your credit report in 2-3 weeks.
- Download a request form at AnnualCreditReport.com, complete the form and mail it to:
Annual Credit Report, Request Service
P.O. Box 105281

Credit agencies are required by law to provide you with a free report once every year.
