Our Mortgage Credit Certificate (MCC) provides your eligible first-time homebuyers with a dollar-for-dollar credit toward their federal income tax. The credit is valid for the life of a mortgage, as long as the homeowner lives in the home — potentially saving them thousands of dollars.

How to Become a Participating MCC Lender

Lender Eligibility
Our MCC program is available to lenders who have a physical presence in Virginia, as well as the ability to close and fund their own loans. You must also meet the requirements listed in the MCC Program Guide.

Virginia Housing-Approved Lender Application
For lenders already approved to offer Virginia Housing products, complete the MCC Participation Agreement for Virginia Housing-Approved Lenders and any documents that state “all lenders”.

Non-Virginia Housing-Approved Lender Application
For lenders who are not approved to offer Virginia Housing loan products but want to offer the MCC program, complete the Qualification Application, the Participation Agreement for Non-Virginia Housing-Approved Lenders and any documents that state “all lenders.”
